Coquina’s Little Blessings Preschool - 3 Year Old Overview
Three Year olds learn best when they have opportunities to choose experiences that interest them. Each three year old classroom is arranged in learning centers which allow the children to play, talk, move around and engage in meaningful activities.
Each learning center is designed to help meet the child’s physical, emotional, social, mental, and spiritual needs. The children are immersed in purposeful learning experiences, numerous opportunities are provided for practicing skills with authentic, real life experiences.
The children choose their own work (task), the length of practice, and the pace of the activity. The teacher will model essential aspects of the task until the child feels comfortable enough to pursue the task himself. We view learning as a developmental process that proceeds continuously in an orderly sequence. The learning centers allow a variation in rate of progress and learning style from child to child.
We provide a safe, secure and supportive learning environment. Help is available, and every child succeeds. Children are given opportunities for sharing and performing what they have learned.
The concepts and skills listed below are organized around four basic areas of development: intellectual, physical, emotional, and social. This list does not include the entire range of competencies for all the Three year olds but gives you an idea and a guideline as to what our activities provide. Each child develops at different rates, some may move beyond these and others may not be developmentally ready to work on all of these skills and concepts.
